National Coffee Day: Local Coffee Shops in Tuscaloosa

Coffee in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa is home to many local coffee shops perfect for your morning cup of joe. Our real estate agents are ready to celebrate National Coffee Day on Tuesday, September 29th, and encourage you to treat yourself to a beverage at one of these great coffee shops around Tuscaloosa.

  1. Turbo Coffee - 2010 8th St., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
In case you had any doubt about their philosophy, the motto of Turbo Coffee is, "Making People Faster." Their extensive selection of hot and cold drip coffee, pour overs, lattes and other beverages takes up nearly an entire page in the menu. Turbo Coffee supplements their caffeine drinks with healthy options such as acai, mango, and pitaya bowls, along with coconut and almond milk smoothies. Order ahead online or by phone for quick pickup.

  2. UPerk - 405 20th Ave., Suite 2, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
UPerk uses the common denominator of coffee to fuel a community gathering spot for everyone in the area of Tuscaloosa homes for sale. What began as a free pop-up near the University of Alabama campus has grown into a full-service, non-profit coffee shop with opportunities for student interns. In addition to traditional and specialty coffee drinks, UPerk serves all-day breakfast and lunch with sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. Enjoy your coffee or meal outdoors on the sunny, spacious patio.

  3. Joyful Java - Tuscaloosa Gateway Center, 2614 University Blvd. E., Tuscaloosa, AL 35404
Owner Kate Hartmann founded Joyful Java in a quest to share the "toe-warming awakening" she gets from a cup of coffee. Brewed coffee, espresso, nitro cold brew, and Greek frappes are served with a "large side order of joy and happiness at no extra charge." Customers also rave about the signature breakfast sandwiches and avocado toast. Between their brick-and-mortar shop inside the Gateway Center and their mobile coffee truck, Joyful Java literally has Tuscaloosa's caffeine needs covered. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram for current truck locations.

  4. FIVE - 2324 6th St., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401
Ever have times when life feels just a bit too complicated? FIVE is a comfortably casual bar and restaurant where you can get a respite from the everyday hustle and bustle. The same attitude carries over to Java, the adjoining coffee shop where you can relax in café-style or outdoor seating. Java is also known for delicious toasts, including avocado or smoked salmon, and yogurt parfaits that are perfect for breakfast or afternoon snacks. Products are sourced locally wherever possible, and everything is made from scratch.

  5. Edgar's Bakery - 1653 McFarland Blvd., Tuscaloosa, AL 35406
Does the word "bakery" conjure up visions of mouthwatering cookies, cupcakes, and pastries? Your dreams are reality at Edgar's Bakery, which has been providing Tuscaloosa with award-winning baked goods since 1993. Many of the bakery's products, such as carrot cake and Italian cream cake, are made from recipes that have been in owner Terry Smith's family for generations. In another sweet nod to family, Edgar's Bakery is named after Terry's father, who has been married to his mother for more nearly 70 years. With their emphasis on quality, it's no surprise that Edgar's serves first-rate regular and specialty coffee drinks as well.
